LICENSE
There are two version in this release, RATKEYS 2.7A and 2.70.
The first version of RATKEYS, version 2.7A, which with limited capacity
(only up to 200 total key strokes allowed) is being distributed as trial
version for version 2.70 (which has capacity to accommodate up to 9000
key strokes). You are granted a limited license to use RATKEYS ver. 2.7A,
and encouraged to copy it and distribute it, provided that the following
conditions are met:
1) No fee may be charged for such copying and distribution.
2) RATKEYS 2.7A may only be distributed in its original, unmodified state.
3) It is not to be distributed with or as part of any other software
package or hardware, unless a written permission has been granted
by the Locust Software Team.
All version of RATKEYS are not public domain software, nor are they free
software.
RATKEYS is copyright (C) 1986, 1987, 9188 by Locust Software Team.
The standard version of RATKEYS, version 2.70 , is available throught
registration only. All the pre-registered users can obtain this standard
version by sending $5 handling and postage fee together with the order
form (in the back of this documentation). We are encouraging non-registered
user to contribute $15 for RATKEYS 2.70 and registration.
Registration permits a user the license to use RATKEYS only on a single
computer; a registered user may use the program on a different computer,
but may not use the program on more than one computer at the same time.
*** RATKEYS 2.70 is NOT to be distributed to any non-registered user. ***
The source ( in assembler language) of RATKEYS 2.70 is available, please
see the order form for detail.
Site licenses and commercial distribution licenses are also available,
please contact Locust Software Team.

1. INTRODUCTION :
RATKEYS is a memory resident program for keyboard enhancement.
It is written for IBM-PC or compatible with minimum 128k memory
using DOS-2.0 or higher. It will redefine any key stroke to a
collection of key strokes. Thus you can save time and trouble by
putting lengthy commands for your spreadsheet, word processor or
any other program into one single key stroke.
Since there are quite a few changes made to version 2.70, the
definition file RATKEYS.DEF is not compatible with older version.
If you do need file conversion, please contact Locust Software team.

Alt keypad keys : such as Alt 127 which means holding Alt key
and depress 1 , release then depress 2, release then finally
depress 7 and release Alt and 7 keys together. ( all the
number keys mentioned here are located on right hand side of
keyboard ). There are total 255 Alt keypad keys can be
redefined. (from Alt 1 to Alt 255)
* key definition can be saved and/or reloaded from disk file named
RATKEYS.DEF
* RATKEYS is a memory resident program, it will take about 50K
memory from DOS (trial version 2.7A will take about 32K
memory). Up to 9,000 key stroke buffer is available for
definition ( version 2.7A has only 200 key stroke buffer).
Once it is loaded into memory it can not be removed unless
you reboot the system. However, it can be disable/enable
at any time.
* the Hot Key which is used to pop up RATKEYS menu can be set
according to user's preference.
* screen data can be imported into key definition

2. GETTING START :
Before using RATKEYS, please make a backup copy for your own
pretection. If you request a replacement disk from Locust Software
Team, we will ask you to enclose $5 for handling and postage charge
with the request.
There should be three files on disk :
RATKEYS.COM - RATKEYS program (this is the only thing you need
to load RATKEYS)
RATKEYS.DEF - sample definition file
RATKEYS.DOC - documentation file
If you find any file missing, please contact Locust Software Team for
replacement.
INITIALIZATION :
type RATKEYS [/L] [/D#] [/H#] at DOS prompt
[ ] indicate options :
/L option : to load in RATKEYS definition file RATKEYS.DEF
at the time of initialization.
/D# option : to set RATKEYS disable/enable key
# is the code for key, it is defined as :
A = Alt - (this is default)
B = Ctrl enter
C = Ctrl Backspace
D = Ctrl ^
E = Ctrl @
/H# option : to set the hot key ( hot key means the key
